Phone Case Manufacturing Processes
Shape Design
The design of mobile phone case firstly needs to determine its function and appearance. The designer will consider the characteristics of the material, the user’s habit and the market trend, and draw a preliminary design sketch.
Mould Making
To make a mould we use CAD software for design and CNC machines for machining. We will make a mould prototype for testing and confirmation.
Injection Moulding
Pre-heated plastic granules are placed into the hopper of the injection moulding machine. The injection moulding machine melts the plastic granules and then injects the molten plastic into the chambers of the mould through a certain pressure. As the injection moulding machine opens and closes, the final appearance of the mobile phone case is formed.
Surface Treatment
Common treatments include spray paint and film. Spray painting is to evenly spray paint on the outer surface of the mobile phone case to increase the aesthetics and scratch resistance of the case. Lamination, on the other hand, is a thin film that is applied to the outer surface of the case to provide additional protection, such as anti-fingerprint and anti-scratch features.
Assembly Phase
The phone case, which has been injection moulded and surface treated, is assembled with other accessories, such as button jacks, camera, etc. During the assembly stage, each accessory is carefully checked for quality and correct installation to ensure the functional integrity of the phone case.
Accessory Inspection
Check each product accessory to see if it is of good quality.
Surface Alcohol Test
Wipe the surface of the case with alcohol to test the abrasion resistance.
Surface Deformation Test
Carefully measure and detect if there are any deformations of the whole phone case of all sides.
Model and Quality Check
After QC inspection, there is a final check when packing, which will check the quality of the phone case and the model number for any error.
